Katya has worked on multiple projects nominated for BFI and UKMVA awards working with talent such as Papaa Essiedu, Harris Dickinson, Sam Fender and Laura Bailey - to name a few. She prides herself on being able to draw the best performances out of both dancing and non-dancing talent, but also in being able to proactively develop each project’s creative identity. Katya carefully considers choreography of camera and has on multiple occasions helped directors realise their one shot visions.
In 2021, Katya was awarded an Artist in Residence grant at Sadler’s Wells, and she has gone on to direct, choreograph and sound design a series of her own films, which have premiered at a variety of acclaimed film festivals and online magazines. In her own work she creates worlds that hover between dream and reality, navigating human desire, connection and transcendence. She’s passionate about championing inclusivity and multi-disciplinary process, and her work often incorporates sound design, fashion and classical text, as vessels for intimate, multi-layered and unerringly contemporary story telling.
