Tylor Deyn is a London-based Dancer, Choreographer and a multi-disciplinary artist working under the pseudonym illyr. His various work crosses fashion, film, music & theatre.
Upon graduating Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Tylor won ‘First Prize’ at the International Diaghilev Competition of Choreographic Art for his duet ‘Causatum’. This firmly established his contemporary aesthetic which has its roots in Ballroom and Latin dance.
Most notably Tylor choreographed electronic duo Goldfrapp’s music video ‘Systemagic’ which has gained over 1 million views on YouTube. He later re-imagined this piece for live performances including the the BBC’s Jools Holland and created the movement for the 2017 set at Glastonbury.
Tylor was named in Dazed 100’s list of the most influential talent of 2017, and this year he choreographed a short-film for director James Cooper in collaboration with Channel 4’s Random Acts and the Institute of Contemporary Art. He has appeared in fashion campaigns and runway shows for Vivienne Westwood, Reebok classic, Koovs and Dior Posion Girl. He also featured in Major publications Love magazine, Beauty Papers, Boys By Girls.
As a dancer he has worked with renowned choreographers Sidi larbi Cherkaoui, Theo Clinkard, Holly Blakey, the Theo Adams Company and toured ‘A Linha Curva’ with Rambert Company.
As illyr he has forged a unique sonic quality combining harrowing lyrics, his raw vocal tone with sparse musical production and found sound. Paring his music with collaged visuals and dancing flesh tone boys. He had Collaborated with Remember you were made to be used, Cotweiler, NTS and Dazed. illyr is currently working on a new PRS funded project entitled ‘foryou’.
