INSTRUMENTS: Flute/Piccolo
BIO: Kate graduated with a first class degree from Trinity College of Music where she studied with Karen Jones, Wissam Boustany and Alan Baker. She went on to win a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she completed a MMus. Kate was then invited to attend the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts as a Visiting Scholar and principal flautist of the Academy Orchestra, where she spent a year studying with the principal flautist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Megan Sterling.
Kate has given many solo recitals in venues such as Hong Kong Fringe Club, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Brunel University, Royal Holloway University and Egham Music Club. She has recorded for BBC Radio 3 as well as appearing with pop bands such as â£Flyâ ¡nd on television programmes such as ┯p of the Popsâ ¡nd â©ss Chinese Universeâ®
Kate is currently principal flautist of Co-Opera Ireland with whom she has toured Ireland and France. She is also co-principal flute with Sinfonia Cymru, Wales, with whom she has played on programmes such as ⓯ngs of Praise⠷ith opera starts Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins and Aled jones. Sinfonia Cymru also accompanied Bryn Terfel on his 2005 UK tour.
